Our History

Ridge Investment Advisors was formed in 1986 through the combination of Tonneman Capital Management and Ridge Capital Corporation. J. Bradley Davis was the architect of this acquisition that created a diversified, boutique investment company that included: private equity, real estate and the new wealth advisory and investment management business. Mr. Davis later shifted his investment priorities to focus on the private equity segment and relocated to the east coast in 1999. He sold the advisory and investment management segment of Ridge Capital Corp. to Richard Mayer. He then shifted the location of Ridge Capital Corp. to Middleburg, Virginia where it currently operates. Ridge Investment Advisors became an independent investment advisory consultant/ manager and shifted its location from Barrington, IL to Chicago where it operated for many years. Over that period of time, Mr. Mayer and Derek Elleman managed both individual and institutional investment portfolios in their long-standing strategy of high quality, large cap, broadly diversified, balanced stock portfolios with a long-term investment horizon. In late 2023, Richard Mayer retired from the investment advisory and his successor, Derek Elleman took over the managing of the firm. Since that change, the firm has moved its primary operations to the suburbs of Ann Arbor, Michigan, though it continues to serve clients all throughout the United States.
